Virtual Events to Attend in Salt Lake City This Summer

Enjoying a full Wasatch Front experience during the time of COVID-19 can be difficult. Fortunately, there are virtual events that will allow you to get the most out of your Salt Lake City visit during these uncertain times.

MOA Virtual Exhibitions

The BYU Museum of Art has made two of their current exhibitions available online, including one that focuses on female artists and one that features the work of John Henri Moser. Grab yourself a cup of coffee to-go from one of the top coffee shops in Salt Lake and enjoy some beautiful art from home or from your hotel room.

Virtual Speed Dating

Does your social distancing feel more like anti-social distancing? Meeting new people is still possible during quarantine, thanks to the company Relish. They are offering virtual speed dating events multiple nights per week. Each virtual speed dating session is broken down by age group. Find a match or two and plan a date for after quarantine at one of Salt Lake's best restaurants.

App-Led Scavenger Hunt

The company Let's Roam offers 8 app-led outdoor scavenger hunts in the Wasatch Front. All you need to do is buy a ticket, download the app, and go. This is a great way to explore Salt Lake City through a partly virtual experience that helps to maintain proper distancing.

Virtual Career Fair

The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the job security of many people across the the Salt Lake Valley. Whether you are new to Salt Lake or just visiting, you can look for new career opportunities from the safety of your own home.

The Salt Lake City Virtual Career Fair will take place on August 5, 2020 from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm

2020 Park City Trail Series - Virtual

Has the "quarantine 15" caught up to you? Get back in shape this summer by participating in the Park City Trail Series. Each trail running event will be open for a month, allowing the participants to run the specified distance alone at a time that best fits their schedule. Trail running on the Wasatch Front is a great way to take in the beautiful scenery Utah has to offer. To participate in a virtual race, you just need to register and submit your results online.

Dates for virtual races:

  • 10k Race: July 1-31
  • 10 Mile Race: August 1-31
  • Half Marathon: September 1-31

Flamenco Lessons on Zoom

Does quarantine have you feeling stiff and rusty? Get back into the groove and take flamenco lessons this summer with Flamenco del Lago. With a variety of weekly class times and age groups, Flamenco del Lago is a Salt Lake City based dance studio dedicating its time to making sure you can still have fun and be active in your home, while simultaneously picking up some new moves to show off once we overcome this pandemic.

Live Zoom class schedule:

  • Beginning (Adult) Flamenco Dance - Wednesdays, 6:00pm to 7:00pm
  • Intermediate (Adult) Flamenco Dance- Tuesdays, 6:00pm to 7:30pm
  • Bailes por Fiesta (Adult Class) - Tangos y Bulerías - TBD
  • Flamenco with Complementos (Adult Class) - Thursdays, 5:30pm to 7:00pm
  • Flamenco para Niños (Kids Class, Ages 6-12) - Mondays, 5:00pm to 6:00pm

Tracy Aviary Virtual Activities

Summer is the time when kids of all ages should be having fun outside and learning some things about nature while they are at it. Covid-19 has made that a bit more challenging, but the Tracy Aviary is taking initiative in making sure that your little one's summer still contains curiosity, adventure, and education! There are virtual classes every few weeks throughout the rest of the summer that will have birds, arts and crafts, sing-along songs, and engaging age appropriate stories.

Upcoming dates for 2-5 year old little chicks classes:

  • July 29th: Backyard Birds
  • August 5th: Parrots
  • August 12th: Vultures
