Ogden, Utah is about 40 minutes north of the Salt Lake International Airport (SLC) and home to one of the most underrated ski hot spots in the Rocky Mountains. The charming downtown area is known as Ogden’s Historic 25th street. The historic area is home to local bars, breweries, restaurants, hotels, eclectic shops, and a lit-up Christmas village during the winter holiday. This ski town is merely a 30-minute scenic drive away from Snowbasin Mountain Resort. Snowbasin Resort is best known for wide-open bowls, gladed runs, manicured groomers, powder stashes days after a storm, and excellent service. For those who like luxury with their adventure, Snowbasin Resort offers both at an incredible value. AIRPORT
Salt Lake International Airport is the closest airport to Ogden’s mountain resorts and well-known for accommodating skier’s needs all winter long. Salt Lake International is known for the fewest delays, operates 98 nonstop flight routes, and is a hub for Delta and JetBlue. Salt Lake International has made traveling with ski and snowboard equipment easy with designated baggage claim area. Shuttle service is also available to meet your needs.
GROUND TRANSPORTATION
There are several options for ground transportation from the SLC international airport to Historic 25th Street. The most economically friendly option is Utah’s rail train system known as FrontRunner for $5.00 round trip. UTA buses service Odgen Hotels to Snowbasin which is free with your lift ticket! Other options include Uber/Lyft Ski service averaging $60 one way plus surge pricing and SUV Car rental averaging $20 per day plus gas.
LODGING
Accommodations include hotels along 25th Street and local AirBnB which are only 17 miles or less from Snowbasin. Options along Historic 25th street include Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton Downtown, Hilton Garden Inn, and Marriott Courtyard to make the most of your stay with affordable rates.
FOOD AND DRINK
There are several local favorites hotspots for food and drink along Ogden’s Historic 25th Street. Do you remember the Bud Light Selzer Super Bowl commercial featuring Post Malone? The Utah Pow Singer-Songwriter was filmed right in the heart of historic 25th street at Brewski’s Bar! Tona sushi is also a great place to grab dinner and drinks but try to plan ahead as this place tends to have a wait on a Friday or Saturday night. Some other local favorites to grab a bite after a long ski day include Rooster’s Brewing Company and Union Grill. However, Historic 25th Street isn’t the only place to grab food and drink for a fun-filled ski weekend. My personal favorite is Apres Ski at Earl’s Lodge Patio with some cheese fries and a local beer from the beer tent to end the ski day! They usually have a band playing on the weekends too enjoy the epic sunset and grab that perfect post shred selfie with the crew.
APRES SKI
The Ogden, Utah ski resorts ranked in order by locals are Snowbasin Mountain Resort, Powder Mountain, and Nordic Valley. All three resorts offer fewer crowds, more parking options, ess traffic, and incredible skiing with Snowbasin being the overall top pick among locals. Snowbasin is also part of the Epic pass which has added perks for riders. Day ski passes are around $30 or less per day at these Ogden resorts compared to Salt Lake ski resorts. Additional lift ticket discounts can be found with group sales and preordering.
