An Insider’s Guide to Salt Lake City’s Best Brunch Spot
Whether you grew up in Salt Lake City or are just visiting for the weekend on a bucket list tour, The Rose Establishment is sure to blow your mind every time you try their signature drinks and amazing pastries.
After deciding to put this stop on your “must-see” list, you will want to have a chance to make sure that you don’t spoil the experience by facing long wait times or missing out on the best that their menu has to offer. We built this quick guide to help you with everything from what to order when to go, how to make a reservation, and parking in the area. You won’t want to skip anything here!
Vibe
This a friendly, well-decorated space, but not overly designed like others. It has a classic brunch cafe feel where you can be comfortable in a dress or jeans. The open seating on the left is a great remote work area, especially in the wintertime. You will find a lot of people with their laptops and coffee ready to get the most out of this open space.
Menu
The menu is well-balanced with baked goods and seasonal food. The top-ranked drinks are the Baklaba Biscuits latte (my personal favorite) and Rosmery latte among their unique coffee options and tea. Biscuits with cheddar keep my partner coming back for more, and I love the avocado toast. If you like meat, try the bacon frittata, which comes with a salad. If you’re a coffee lover, try the Kenya Gotomboya brewed on the Aeropress. The food is delicious, healthy, and worth the wait. Keep in mind that there is a mandatory 18% service charge in order to provide additional benefits to the wait staff.
Wait/Reservations
Reservations are available through self-serve options for groups of up to 5 people and can be arranged via email for larger groups. You don’t need reservations on weekends but you might need to wait a while due to the popularity of the place and limited tables for the brunch experience. Waiters are usually attentive and nice although the waiting time for the food varies on the items, the staff tries to get back and check on you often.
During the week, the average wait is just 20 minutes or less but on weekends can be up to 1 hour. One thing to keep in mind is that there is a quick-serve area where you can go up to the counter on the left for coffee/drinks and pastries. The seating isn’t reserved but if you are in a hurry it is a great option. If you prefer table service and are able to wait, it is worth it to try and come on weekdays to save on the wait.
Time of week
The location of the Rose is very convenient since is around the most important buildings in downtown Salt Lake, but still has good parking available. The busiest hour during the week is right before 9 am and close to lunch but it shouldn’t take more than 15 minutes to get seated on weekdays. If you are lucky, you can park for free on the street just outside, otherwise parking lots in the area will let you stay for $5-15 depending on the events happening in the area. Make sure to take care of hiding any valuables as there are unfortunately a few cases of theft to parked vehicles across the city.
For large brunching groups, Reservations are encouraged
